We also repaired some stress cracking on the opposite side of the step-through. As per our usual process, all bonding, laminating and fairing was carried out using West System epoxy. The original transom was constructed of two pieces of ¾" mahogany veneered marine plywood laminated together along with a ¾" plywood cheeks mounted on each side of the inside of the boat and a ¾" plywood bow along the bottom of the inside. It was this bow and a portion of the cheek that had rotted on the port side. Big mistake. The holes in the transom reinforcement, didnt line up to well because of the added layer in thickness. The thought that I might want to add a larger motor to the boat in the future led me down the path of knuckle-headed-ness. So if you want my advice.
